FAQ

1. What is Brazilian Jiu Jitsu?

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) is a martial art that focuses on grappling and ground fighting. It was developed with the concept that a smaller opponent can overcome a stronger one by using superior leverage, grip, and positioning. This is what makes the sport and self-defense so great for people of smaller stature and children. However, Jiu Jitsu caters to everyone, no matter what shape or size. Everyone can create their own style and express the martial art in their unique way. The sport of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu does not include punching, kicking, or striking—hence, it’s referred to as “the gentle art”. This is also what makes it possible to practice techniques against one another. BJJ is the most effective and fastest-growing martial art in the world. It’s also a great way to stay in shape, make new friends, build self-confidence, and gain a deep understanding of the workings of the human body.
